Dear Reader,
If you ever think that what you do doesn't matter, think again.
As I share below, someone once told me that I changed his life, and I didn't even know it!
A kind word to a stranger when you're shopping at Costco...
A hug to a loved one who's feeling distraught...
A text message letting someone know you're thinking about them...
These may not be grand gestures, but they create ripple effects in the world.
What kind of ripples are you creating as you move about the world?
You may not know what impact you have, but you sure can know how you show up.
Ready to show up in a way that lets your heart and light shine?
Then keep on reading.
Now let’s get ALIGNED…
Inspirational Quote
"Sometimes you never know what ripples you create. But what you can know is how you show up...with kindness, compassion, generosity and heart."
- Joselito Laudencia (that's me!)
The Story and The Spiritual Lesson
I changed someone's life, and I didn't even know it.
Years ago, I was in line grabbing a cup of coffee at Philz in downtown Berkeley, California.
Someone came up to me and said, "Joselito is that you?"
The guy was someone I went to undergraduate school with at UC Berkeley.
He immediately told me, "I bet you didn't know this, but you changed my life."
"I did?" I replied. "What did I do?"
He took a deep breath and shared.
"You remember how you were a health worker for our dorms? Well, you inspired me."
The look on his face told me he'd been wanting to share this for some time.
"I originally planned to go into engineering," he continued. "But seeing how you cared for people, I decided to become a health worker myself. That led me to changing my major to study medicine and become a doctor."
"Wow, that's amazing!" I told him. "What are you doing now?"
"You won't believe this, but now I'm the head of pediatric medicine for this entire region. I've always wanted to tell you how much you inspired me, and I'm so glad I got to finally tell you in person."
At that moment, I felt so humbled.
You never know what kind of ripple effects you create by your actions.
But you *can* know is how you show up...with kindness, compassion, generosity and heart.
You don't do it because you expect anything in return.
You do it because that's who you are, and that's what the world can use more of.
Kindness matters.
You never know who's watching, and who's world you'll end up changing for the better.
Your Call to Action
For your coaching assignment for this week, make a point to do one act of kindness every day for the next 7 days.
It doesn't have to be random, and it doesn't have to be secret.
Here are some ideas to get you going:
- Call a friend you haven't talked to in a while.
- Treat someone to a cup of coffee or tea.
- Donate some clothes.
- Open a door to let someone in.
- Post something positive and uplifting on social media.
- Give a genuine compliment to someone.
- Pick up litter if you see it.
- Put your phone down and listen to someone when they're speaking.
- Light a candle and say a prayer for someone who's hurting.
And remember, you can also be kind to yourself, so what's one thing you can do to be kind to yourself this week?
