Two questions I ask myself every day in uncertain times

Dear Reader,

Lately, it feels like there’s a lot in the air.

You can sense it when you turn on the news, scroll through your phone, or sit quietly with your own thoughts.

There’s angst, uncertainty, and a collective heaviness many of us are carrying, whether we name it or not.

This past Sunday, I had the honor of giving the inspirational talk at my spiritual home, the Global Truth Center.

Our theme for the month is Love Only, and I couldn’t help but feel how timely and necessary that message is right now.

Not as a spiritual bypass.

Not as an empty platitude.

But as a conscious, moment-to-moment way of choosing how we show up in the world.

Because whether we realize it or not, each of us is bringing something into every space we enter.

An energy.

A tone.

A feeling that can be felt before a single word is spoken.

So the real question becomes not what’s happening out there, but how are we meeting it from in here.

Curious about what that might look like in the smallest, most human moments of your day?

Then keep on reading. Now let's get ALIGNED...

The Story

A couple weeks ago, something simple but unexpected happened at my athletic club.

There’s a guy there named Marco. Every time he sees me, without fail, he greets me with a big smile and calls me guapo (handsome). It’s become our thing. A small, playful exchange that always makes me smile.

But one morning, as I walked past him, he looked at me for a moment and called me something different.

“Happy-go-lucky.”

It caught me off guard.

Not because it was a better compliment, but because it felt like he wasn’t responding to how I looked.

He was responding to how I felt in that moment. To the energy I was carrying.

And it reminded me of something easy to forget.

Whether we’re aware of it or not, each of us walks around with an energetic signature.

We’re broadcasting something long before we say a word.

Marco didn’t know what was on my calendar that day. He didn’t know what I was holding in my inner world. But he felt something. And that something was palpable.

Our thoughts, our inner state, our emotional tone don’t stay contained within us.

They move. They land. They ripple outward into the spaces we enter and the people we meet.

In that brief exchange, I was reminded that how we show up matters.

Not in some grand or dramatic way, but in these small, ordinary moments that quietly shape the atmosphere around us.

The Spiritual Lesson

That moment with Marco stayed with me long after I left the club.

Because it reminded me that we’re not just moving through the world reacting to what’s happening around us.

We’re active participants in Life itself, moment by moment, through the energy we bring.

We often think of love as something we feel or something we offer when circumstances are easy.

But Love Only invites us into something deeper.

Love Only asks us to choose love as a way of being, especially when things feel uncertain, tense, or unsettled.

This is where consciousness comes in.

Our creative energy is always at work.

Through our thoughts, our attitudes, and the state of our hearts, we are shaping our experience of the world and contributing to the collective field we’re all living in.

That’s why the question isn’t whether we’re impacting the world. We are.

The real question is how intentionally we’re doing it.

For me, this comes back to two simple questions I ask myself every day:

  • What kind of life is my heart leading me to live?
  • And what kind of world is my heart leading me to create?

These questions slow me down.

They bring me out of reaction and back into choice.

They remind me that leadership doesn’t always look loud or visible.

Sometimes, it looks like choosing presence over distraction. Compassion over judgment. Love over fear.

In the smallest of moments.

When we let the heart lead, even in these quiet, everyday interactions, we begin to create a different quality of life within ourselves and a different quality of world around us.

Your Call to Action

Here's a gentle invitation for the week ahead:

As you move through your days, pause from time to time and simply notice the energy you’re bringing into a space.

Not to judge it. Not to fix it. Just to notice.

You might even choose one moment each day to check in with your heart and ask:

  • What kind of energy am I bringing right now?
  • Is this the energy my heart wants to lead with?

If you enjoy journaling, you might explore these questions more deeply:

  • What kind of life is my heart leading me to live right now?
  • What kind of world is my heart leading me to create through my presence?

Let these questions be companions, not tasks.

And if you forget, that’s okay too.

Love Only begins again in the next moment.

Letting the Heart Lead

As we move through these uncertain times, it’s easy to believe that what’s happening out there is what matters most.

But again and again, I’m reminded that real change begins much closer to home.

The invitation begins in the heart.

In the energy we bring.
In the way we choose to meet each moment, each person, each day.

We may not always get it right. I know I don’t.

And still, every moment offers us another opportunity to begin again.

To let love lead.
To choose loving presence over fear.
To trust that even our smallest interactions matter.

May you move through this week with a little more awareness, a little more compassion, and a gentle willingness to let your heart lead the way.

And may you remember that even uncertain paths can become sacred ground.

Abundant Blessings and Namaste.
